PLACES OF INTEREST

Cragg Vale is a delightful valley offering good walking in tranquil surroundings. There are guided walks and other activities throughout the year through Hardcastle Crags, a beautiful wooded valley owned by The National Trust. A growing network of bridleways are making excellent mountain-biking and horse-riding routes, including the newly-opened Mary Towneley Loop, part of the Pennine Bridleway. Also from the town you can follow the stone causeways (causeys) that mark the old packhorse routes.

The Rochdale Canal has horse-drawn or motor boat hire cruises run from the marina opposite Moyles, while narrowboat hire is available nearby. For more detailed information about the area go to www.hebdenbridge.com
